As the first component of the project, we invited 1 athletics coach from Rwanda to Japan to conduct a training on coaching. The seven-day training program was organized from December 9th to 15th in Hyogo and Shiga prefecture, and the training contents included not only coaching of athletics to different age groups but also obvservation of sports facilities, sports clubs and sports events to learn about sports management.
The program consisted of the following activities:
- From December 9th to 11th: Kobe and Akashi, Hyogo prefecture
- Theoretical and methodological traninig on Talent Identification and Development (TID)
- Practical training on CHEZA’s Physical Performance Test as a tool for TID
- Visit to CHEZA’s sports academy and participation to a lesson as a coach
- Sports nutrition workshop
- Visit to Akashi Kita High School Athletics Club and observation of their traini
- Observation of sports complex and smart venue
- Meetings and discussions with sports management stakeholders
- From December 12th to 15th: Ritsumeikan University at Kusatsu city, Shiga prefecture
- Tour of training facilities and advanced sports technologies, including high-precision sensors in the university
- Lecture by a professor with expertise in Sports for Development and Peace
- Observation of training sessions of top-level university track and field athletes
- Exchange of views and interaction with athletics club athletes
- Participation in athletics academy class for junior athletes
- Observation of EKIDEN (Japanese long-distance relay race) race competition
